About the role

Translated into English from Finnish by Korum. The employer's original wording is on their site.

Would you like to work at the heart of IT management and influence how one of Finland's leading social and healthcare service companies puts its IT strategy into practice? We are now looking for an IT Strategy and Development Manager at Pihlajalinna to support the IT Director and to coordinate the IT development portfolio, strategy implementation and the management whole.

In this role you will work closely with the IT Director and the IT management team and gain an exceptionally broad view of all IT operations. You will take part in preparing important decisions, supporting the progress of strategic projects and ensuring that the various development projects form a controlled whole.

💡 What does the work involve?

Pihlajalinna's IT management is responsible for software development, data and artificial intelligence, ICT services, and information security and data protection. IT management plays a central role in developing Pihlajalinna's business, ensuring the continuity of services and introducing new solutions.

As IT Strategy and Development Manager you will be responsible for coordinating the IT development portfolio and maintaining the overall picture of projects, resources and the dependencies between them. You will prepare the prioritisation of development projects, the preparation of investments and business case calculations, and ensure that the IT strategy and technology roadmap are visible in practical objectives and decision-making. In your work you will prepare strategic analyses, take part in preparing wider changes, and assess new service models and partnerships as part of IT development.

In your work you will prepare the working of the IT management team, monitor the implementation of decisions and coordinate annual planning. You will develop IT management models, such as prioritisation, reporting and decision-making. In addition, you will coordinate the preparation of budgeting and financial monitoring and make sure that obligations related to regulation and audits progress as planned.

As part of your role you will act as the primary contact person for IT development matters within Group Services and ensure that the needs of Group Services are visible in IT management's plans. No more than a quarter of your working time will be spent on this.

The role has no direct line management responsibility. Success in the role is based on the ability to grasp whole entities, build smooth cooperation between different stakeholders and get things moving through influence. Our IT Director Lauri Muhonen describes the role as follows:

"IT management currently has several interesting development projects and changes running at the same time. In this role, your most important task is to help us see the whole picture and ensure that development work progresses in a planned way in the right direction. You will also act as my trusted sparring partner and, when needed, represent me in various preparation and cooperation situations. In many organisations, a role like this is known as Chief of Staff."
