About the role
Translated into English from Norwegian by Korum. The employer's original wording is on their site.
Argus Remote Systems is looking for an experienced and business-oriented CFO who will take overall responsibility for financial management and actively contribute to the company's continued development. You will ensure that investments in technology, commercial opportunities and complex deliveries are backed by sound financial assessments and profitable operations.
You will be a member of the management group and take responsibility for both the finance function and supply chain. The role gives you a central position in decisions on priorities, capital use and the development of the business.
Technology developed and built in Bergen
Argus Remote Systems has developed and produced electric, remotely operated underwater vehicles since 1991. From Laksevåg we deliver ROV systems to an international market within oil and gas, aquaculture, research and defence. Our professional teams work across the entire product cycle, from development and design to production and finished deliveries.
Argus Remote Systems will further develop the organisation and the governance of the business. The CFO will have an important task in linking project economics, liquidity and goods flow more closely together, so that the company can set the right priorities and deliver its ambitions with financial control.
Overall responsibility with clear expectations
As CFO you will give the CEO, the management group and the board a reliable basis for decision-making. You will challenge assumptions, make risk visible and follow up measures that strengthen profitability. Your responsibilities include:
· Leading the finance function and ensuring quality in accounting, annual closing, internal control and reporting, as well as owning the budget and forecasting processes.
· Strengthening project and product economics through calculations, margin follow-up and final cost forecasts, and contributing to assessments of pricing and contract terms.
· Managing liquidity and working capital, following up financing needs and preparing financial assessments of investments and risk.
· Leading and developing purchasing, warehouse and logistics in close cooperation with the COO, with a good balance between capital tied up, costs and delivery reliability.
· Further developing ERP, data quality and work processes from purchase order to invoice and accounting, and ensuring better management information.
· Developing employees and establishing clear responsibilities and good ways of working across finance, sales, projects and production.
Who are you?
We are looking for someone who has held overall financial responsibility and can show results from leadership and improvement work. You may currently be a CFO, finance director or finance manager. What matters most is the breadth of the responsibility you have held, the complexity you have handled and the results you have achieved.
Qualifications:
Higher education in finance or economics, preferably a master's degree or siviløkonom.
Solid experience from a leading finance function with responsibility for accounting, budgets, forecasts and financial reporting.
Strong accounting expertise and experience with annual closing, internal control and working with auditors.
Documented experience with project economics, liquidity management and working capital, and the ability to turn analyses into measures that improve profitability.
Experience providing decision support to management and the board, including investment analyses and assessment of financial risk.
Documented people management and experience of carrying out improvements across functions.
Good ERP and systems understanding, and insight into how purchasing, warehouse and deliveries affect margins and capital tied up.
Good communication skills in Norwegian and English, both spoken and written.
You must be able to obtain security clearance.
Background from industry, engineering, technology manufacturing or other project-based businesses with physical deliveries is particularly relevant. Management responsibility for purchasing, warehouse or logistics would be an advantage.
A clear leader who knows the business
You combine strategic understanding with the willingness to go into the details. You familiarise yourself with the projects, ask demanding questions and make financial consequences understandable to others. Once decisions are made, you follow up on implementation.
As a leader you build trust through professional confidence, clear expectations and good involvement. You value the experience in the organisation, while also having the drive to develop ways of working and set demands.
The opportunity at Argus
