Context & project

Decathlon's mission is to bring everyone together around the wonders of sport to make well-being accessible to all. To achieve this, design excellence is essential at every stage of our digital experience: both for the millions of athletes who use our websites and apps, and for the thousands of team members who rely every day on our tools in stores, warehouses and offices to carry out their mission.

Digital design plays a key role in growth and human connection at Decathlon. How? By ensuring tools that are simple, reliable and pleasant to use, and by providing our community of designers with the foundations, systems and shared practices they need to create the best possible experiences.

Your mission

In this context, we are looking for a Digital Design Senior Manager within the Product Center of Excellence (CoE) to lead our central design capabilities, drive the strategic vision, advance the excellence of our craft and animate our community of designers across Decathlon Digital.

You will have a dual mission:

  1. Directly manage the team dedicated to the Design System as well as the Design & Research Ops team.
  2. Functionally animate and inspire the community of digital product designers embedded in our various business domains (eCommerce, store applications, Supply Chain, internal platforms) and our countries. You will also guide the evolution of our design practices in the age of AI.

Role & responsibilities

As Digital Design Senior Manager, you will be the strategic partner at Decathlon Digital for:

  • Directly managing and growing your teams (Design System and Design & Research Ops): setting their priorities, supporting their development and ensuring their work tangibly benefits Decathlon's teams.
  • Leading our Design System: ensuring its relevance for all our digital experiences, by supporting the specific needs of B2C, E2E, B2B products and sports experiences. Measuring its adoption and its contribution to team efficiency and experience quality.
  • Leading Design & Research Ops: ensuring the tools, methods and programmes put in place meet the real needs of teams, are effectively adopted and tangibly contribute to their efficiency as well as to the quality of product decisions.
  • Functionally supporting and coaching our designer team members: clarifying career paths, structuring onboarding, developing skills and fostering synergies and the sharing of practices across domains.
  • Driving the forward-looking vision of design and its practices, particularly in the age of AI, through active monitoring and experimentation with new practices.
  • Creating the conditions for active contribution from the design community to the evolution of our tools, standards and practices.
  • Building strong partnerships with Product and Engineering leaders to promote design excellence, digital accessibility (RGAA / WCAG), eco-design and business impact.

Know-how / Key skills

  • Around 10 years of experience in digital design, gained in complex, international product environments.
  • Experience in direct management, ideally with hybrid profiles (designers, engineers).
  • Strong cross-functional leadership, with a proven ability to influence, advise and align senior stakeholders (Directors, business, tech and product teams).
  • In-depth knowledge of and strong sensitivity to current issues in digital design, particularly regarding Artificial Intelligence (AI) and eco-design.
  • Mastery of French and English, both written and spoken, is required to work in an international environment.

Way of being / Attitude

  • Influence without hierarchical authority - Building trust, inspiring teams with a clear vision and uniting designers, product managers and tech leaders across different domains around shared standards.
  • Cross-functional collaboration - Working hand in hand with diverse areas (Omni, Supply Chain, Sports, Platforms), understanding their specific operational realities.
  • Generosity and sharing of craft - Cultivating a culture of mutual support where teams share their work early, learn from their mistakes and progress together.
  • Growth mindset - Staying curious, humble and grounded in reality, constantly seeking to progress and help others progress, while turning challenges into learning opportunities.

This role is for you if…

  • You enjoy helping others grow and seeing teams succeed through your support and guidance.
  • You appreciate both close, hands-on direct management and the cross-functional animation of a wider community.
  • You are passionate about the future of design and enthusiastic about making AI concrete, useful and human-centred.
  • You have a taste for simplifying complexity and building pragmatic, lasting solutions.
  • You want to play a driving role in raising design excellence to the highest level at Decathlon!

What we offer you

  • Flexible remote working: 2 days of remote working per week;
  • Workplaces: Decathlon Digital offices in Lille or Paris
  • Quality equipment: Hardware suited to your mission and aligned with our societal commitments (Mac or PC);
  • Stimulating company project: A local team within a global network, opening up international career opportunities;
  • Skills development: Continuous support (varied projects, certifications, internal and external training);
  • Remuneration package: Attractive pay (profit-sharing and participation in company profits, monthly/quarterly bonuses).
