About the role

Translated into English from Swedish by Korum. The employer's original wording is on their site.

About us

CrossControl develops technology that makes industrial vehicles and machines smarter, safer and more productive. We are a leading player in HMI (Human Machine Interface) and data solutions, and we collaborate with OEMs and system integrators around the world.

With offices in Alfta, Uppsala, Västerås and Tampere, we combine local presence with a global market. Here you work closely with both technology and operations in an environment characterised by collaboration, short decision-making paths and a strong focus on quality and longevity.

We are now looking for you who want to develop robust products and turn ideas into well-considered mechanical solutions. With us, you get to work across the entire development chain, from early concepts and 3D modelling to drawing documentation, prototypes and finished products that must withstand demanding environments, in close collaboration with colleagues across our technology areas.

About the role

We are now looking for an experienced mechanical design engineer for our development department. You will become an important part of our development team and be responsible for mechanical design, documentation and technical solutions with a focus on function, quality, cost and manufacturability.

In the role you develop enclosures in plastic and metal for electronics solutions and vehicle computers, from idea and design in 3D CAD to finished product documentation. You work with drawings, specifications, bills of materials (BOM) and other technical documentation while evaluating material choices, manufacturing methods and design solutions to find the best overall result.

The work takes place in close collaboration with colleagues in development, production and purchasing, as well as with external suppliers. You are involved throughout the product development process, from prototype production and verification to ongoing improvements and further development of existing products. An important part of the role is also ensuring that our solutions meet requirements for quality, environmental resilience, cost-effectiveness and manufacturability, whether for smaller or larger series.

The position is primarily intended to be based at the head office in Alfta, where our production is located and where the other mechanical and PCB layout designers are based. For the right candidate, placement in Uppsala or Västerås can also be discussed.

We are looking for you who

  • Have several years of experience in mechanical design and product development in 3D CAD, preferably seven years or more.

  • Have a technical education in, for example, mechanical engineering, product development or equivalent experience.

  • Understand the different phases of product development, from requirements specification and concept development to verification and production.

  • Work independently, take responsibility for your own tasks and at the same time enjoy working closely with colleagues within your own group and other functions.

  • Are structured, solution-oriented and communicate clearly.

  • Have a good command of both Swedish and English, spoken and written. English is our group language.

It is meritorious if you have experience of Solid Edge and/or SolidWorks, as well as knowledge of production adaptation, tolerancing, material selection for plastic and metal, and various manufacturing methods. Experience of PLM/PDM systems, such as Windchill, is meritorious.

We also welcome experience from other technical roles that have given you a practical understanding of design and manufacturing, for example work in workshops, production or assembly.

What we offer

At CrossControl you get a role where you can make a real impact. You become part of an engaged development team where ideas are valued, decision-making paths are short and collaboration between different skills is a natural part of everyday work. Here you have the opportunity to follow products through the entire development chain, from first concept to finished solution at the customer.

We believe in freedom under responsibility and give you plenty of scope to take your own initiatives, develop in your professional role and contribute your experience. At the same time, you become part of a helpful and unpretentious culture where we support one another, share knowledge and have fun together along the way.

This is a workplace for you who enjoy technical challenges, want to work closely with both product and operations, and thrive in a company where quality, longevity and commitment are in focus.
