Role Overview

A Staff Product Designer is a key leader who drives the main product experience across the board, from strategy development through to execution.
Drawing on extensive experience, you will work closely with a range of stakeholders, and we require the ability to give shape to your own design vision and ideas and to design best-in-class products.

Hands-on Design Leader: The Coupang Product Design team aims for a hands-on design culture. We expect leaders to be skilled designers who demonstrate thoughtful process, refined design and a customer-centred perspective when solving design problems. As you will be accountable for the speed and quality of team outcomes, you should be confident leading a team and demanding excellence in every detail.

Holistic Problem Solver: Leaders must think systematically and use intuition and evidence (data, best-practice benchmarks, testing and analysis, etc.) to find innovative solutions to complex customer problems.

Responsibilities

• Achieving product goals for the customer experience and leading design direction
• Setting strategic direction through close collaboration with a range of stakeholders, including business leaders, product managers, engineering, operations and marketing
• Taking part in product roadmap and prioritisation discussions and reflecting the design perspective
• Leading the improvement and standardisation of the design system across the platform
• Taking product ownership and ensuring final quality through collaboration and priority management
• Defining problems and building UX strategy based on data
• Carrying out iterative improvement based on metrics and product optimisation through A/B testing
• Exploring and conducting advance design for new devices and future usage environments

Qualifications Requirements

• Ability to complete the necessary work thoroughly with proactive execution and a strong sense of responsibility
• 8 or more years of experience in product design
• Bachelor's degree holder (in a related field such as graphic design, interaction design, industrial design, HCI, computer science or psychology)
• Able to submit a portfolio including product or design work successfully launched in the market
• Skilled in using design tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
• Ability to lead the design process end to end, from extracting insights and creating user journeys to wireframes and UI design
• Ability to work directly with engineers to confirm that designs are implemented correctly and to manage quality
• Experience working with product owners to develop product strategy and set roadmap priorities

Preferred Qualifications

• Large-scale service design experience in a fast-growing organisation
• Experience planning UX research and making decisions based on user interviews and testing
• Experience with data-driven iterative improvement and performance measurement
• Deep understanding of the e-commerce or video streaming industries
• Experience exerting strong influence in collaboration to achieve design goals

Document Return Policy 

1. This notice is provided pursuant to Article 11(6) of the Act on Fair Hiring Procedures.
