About the role

Translated into English from French by Korum. The employer's original wording is on their site.

At Expliseat, we are reinventing the way people travel. Since 2012, our patented ultra-lightweight aircraft seats have lightened aircraft, reduced their fuel consumption and limited their CO₂ emissions. With more than 10,000 seats already in flight around the world, we are the leader in ultra-lightweight seats for regional aviation and we are accelerating in the medium-haul segment.

Our mission? To combine performance, comfort and a positive environmental impact.

Join a passionate team where innovation, agility and boldness are at the heart of every project, and help decarbonise the mobility of tomorrow ✈️.

Your mission at Expliseat:

You will be responsible for the full development of a range of seats on a given platform. You will work across the entire product lifecycle, from the design phase (defining architectures, steering mechanical studies and sub-assemblies), through certification by the competent authorities, to its evolution.

Your objective: to ensure technical consistency, regulatory compliance and the overall performance of the seat throughout its entire lifetime.

Your main responsibilities:

1. Lead the development and ETSO certification

  • Supervise the development of a range of seats on a given platform, from the definition of the concept through to obtaining final ETSO certification.
  • Ensure cross-functional coordination of mechanical design, simulation calculations and testing, guaranteeing compliance with aviation standards and the specific requirements of customers.
  • As technical lead of the project, work closely with internal teams (Design, Simulation, Certification, Project Management…) and external partners (suppliers, laboratories, authorities).
  • Write the specifications to define precisely the requirements for the seat sub-assemblies with the Modules and Advanced Concepts teams.
  • Prepare and actively take part in design reviews to validate technical choices and development progress.
  • Take part in organising test campaigns and manage the certification technical documentation (drawings, validations, MasterBOM, test reports…).

2. Ensure product performance and quality

  • Be responsible for the mass, cost, comfort, aesthetic and mechanical performance objectives of the product.
  • Analyse and validate the integration of sub-assemblies into the seat structure and their interfaces with the modules.
  • Propose innovative technical solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Ensure traceability and compliance of the product throughout the development process.

3. Support production launch and product evolution

  • Work closely with the Manufacturing teams to ensure the manufacturability, repeatability and quality of the product from the first prototypes through to series production.
  • Prepare and validate series seat configurations for the factory (FAI, series production).
  • Be the guardian of the seat range throughout its series life and lead the evolutions or improvements required in operation.
  • Actively take part in evolution projects or new variants (Business Class, Recline, etc.).

Your profile:

  • Engineering degree in mechanics, aeronautics or product design.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience developing complex products in an industrial environment (ideally aerospace).
  • Solid understanding of aviation standards and the ETSO certification process.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks or equivalent).
  • Experience developing Business Class seats would be a major asset.
  • Professional English essential.
  • Autonomy, technical rigour, pragmatism, attention to detail and a strong ability to work in a team
