Ansible / AWX / Red Hat AAP Automation Expert, Senior

ABGi Technology is recruiting on behalf of its client, a large industrial group in the energy sector, for its future Ansible / AWX / Red Hat AAP Automation Expert, Senior, based in Lyon.

🔎 YOUR MISSIONS

As part of a programme to modernise, industrialise and secure its industrial IT infrastructure, our client wishes to strengthen its teams with an experienced Ansible / AWX / Red Hat AAP Automation Expert.

You will work in a critical industrial environment, within teams responsible for the deployment, evolution, maintenance in operational condition (MCO) and continuous improvement of IT infrastructure automation platforms.

Your role will consist of designing, deploying, administering and developing automation solutions based notably on Ansible, AWX and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), while ensuring their reliability, security and availability.

You will also work on GitLab and Gitea environments, to ensure the management, versioning and industrialisation of configurations and automated processes.

You will work closely with infrastructure teams, operations staff, system administrators, technical experts and project teams, on Production and Non-Production environments.

The missions required of you:

• Design, deploy, install, configure and administer the Ansible, AWX and Red Hat AAP automation platforms;

• Ensure maintenance in operational condition (MCO), availability, performance and security of automation solutions;

• Take part in defining and evolving the technical architectures of the automation platforms;

• Design, develop, test and maintain Ansible playbooks suited to infrastructure needs;

• Develop and maintain the roles, inventories, variables and configurations required to run automations;

• Industrialise recurring administration, configuration and deployment operations for infrastructure;

• Automate technical tasks in order to reduce manual interventions, improve reliability and increase the efficiency of operations teams;

• Administer and evolve the GitLab and Gitea environments used for managing configurations and developments;

• Implement and maintain the versioning, validation and deployment processes for automations;

• Take part in integrating automation solutions with the various tools and components of the information system;

• Use the APIs of the solutions to facilitate their integration and orchestration;

• Administer and maintain the associated technical components, notably Red Hat Linux (RHEL), PostgreSQL and Apache / Nginx web servers;

• Develop and maintain Python and Bash scripts to meet automation and operational needs;

• Carry out technical evolutions, version upgrades and maintenance operations on the platforms;

• Take part in testing, qualification, technical acceptance and validation phases for new functionalities;

• Diagnose and resolve complex incidents affecting the automation platforms;

• Provide level 3 (N3) technical support to level 2 operations teams;

• Analyse malfunctions, identify their causes and propose lasting corrective actions;

• Take part in improving the security, robustness and reliability of automated processes;

• Produce and maintain technical documentation: technical architecture documents (DAT), installation, operation and maintenance procedures, test plans and technical guides;

• Formalise automation best practices and standards to make them easier for teams to reuse;

• Take part in technical workshops and support teams in using the automation solutions;

• Track interventions, incidents and evolutions in Jira and ServiceNow;

• Take part in ceremonies and coordination activities in an Agile / SAFe environment;

• Be a proactive contributor to continuous improvement, industrialisation and optimisation of infrastructure and operational processes.

🎯 WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Required skills and experience:

• Significant experience in automation, administration and operation of IT infrastructures, ideally in complex industrial environments;

• Proven expertise in Ansible, notably in designing, developing, running and maintaining playbooks;

• Excellent command of AWX and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP): architecture, installation, configuration, administration and use of APIs;

• Expertise in GitLab and Gitea solutions: architecture, installation, configuration, administration and integration into automation processes;

• Very good command of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments;

• Solid skills in Python and Bash scripting;

• Good command of PostgreSQL and its operation in infrastructure environments;

• Technical knowledge of Apache and Nginx web servers;

• Command of the principles of automation, configuration management, versioning and industrialisation of deployments;

• Experience in deploying, administering and maintaining operational condition of technical platforms;

• Ability to analyse and resolve complex level 3 (N3) incidents;

• Experience in writing technical documents: DAT, operating procedures, architecture documentation and test plans;

• Ability to work on Production and Non-Production environments subject to high demands for availability and security;

• Professional experience in an industrial IT environment, with a good understanding of its operational constraints;

• Good command of technical English, notably for reading documentation and analysing technical issues;

• Autonomy, rigour, organisation and good oral and written communication skills.

The following skills are genuine advantages:

• Experience in large-scale industrialisation of operational and system administration processes;

• Experience in designing and evolving complex automation architectures;

• Good understanding of high availability, service continuity and infrastructure security issues;

• Experience integrating automation platforms with operations, monitoring or infrastructure management tools;

• Practice with Jira and ServiceNow for tracking incidents, changes and evolutions;

• Familiarity with Agile / SAFe methodologies and working within multidisciplinary technical teams;

• Experience providing technical support to operations teams and transferring skills;

• Ability to propose technical improvements to optimise the performance, reliability and maintainability of solutions.

Experience in a demanding or critical industrial environment is an essential element for this position, notably in the energy, nuclear, critical infrastructure, transport or heavy industry sectors.

👤 PROFILE SOUGHT

With a Bac+3 to Bac+5 qualification (Bachelor's to Master's level) in computing, systems and networks, IT infrastructure or an equivalent field, you can demonstrate confirmed professional experience in automation and operation of IT infrastructures.

You have genuine technical expertise in Ansible, AWX and Red Hat AAP, complemented by solid command of Linux environments and version management tools such as GitLab and Gitea.

You are able to work autonomously across the entire lifecycle of an automation platform: architecture, installation, configuration, development, integration, deployment, operation, maintenance and N3 support.

You enjoy complex technical environments in which reliability, security, availability and quality of operations are major issues.

Rigorous, methodical and organised, you know how to analyse complex technical issues, identify suitable solutions and produce clear, usable documentation.

Your service mindset, your ability to communicate and your aptitude for collaborating with varied stakeholders - infrastructure experts, system administrators, operations staff, project managers and business teams - will be essential to success in this role.

• Remote working: 2 days per week

• Expected start date: 1 January 2027

• Expected duration: long-term assignment, until 31 December 2029
