About the role

Client Growth Partner (CGP)
Location: South Africa
Industry Focus: Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI)

Role Level: Senior Leadership Account Coverage: One large strategic account or a small portfolio of strategic accounts

About the Role
We are seeking an accomplished Client Growth Partner (CGP) to drive revenue growth, deepen strategic client relationships, and expand our footprint within one large strategic account or a small portfolio of key accounts in South Africa.
This is a senior commercial leadership role for a proven technology services professional who combines strong executive relationships, strategic account management expertise, and a demonstrated ability to originate, shape, and close enterprise deals.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the account growth agenda, identifying new business opportunities, expanding relationships across business and technology functions, and positioning the organization as a trusted partner for digital engineering, technology modernization, and AI-led transformation.
The role requires a strong understanding of enterprise technology services, commercial deal-making, and the South African BFSI landscape. The candidate must be capable of engaging credibly with C-suite executives, business leaders, technology decision-makers, and procurement stakeholders to translate client priorities into tangible business opportunities and sustainable revenue growth.
The ideal candidate is commercially driven, entrepreneurial, and comfortable navigating complex client organizations to build relationships, identify opportunities, and deliver measurable business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Account Growth and Revenue Ownership
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive account growth strategy aligned with the client's business priorities, technology roadmap, and organizational objectives.
  • Own quarterly and annual revenue and bookings targets for the assigned account or portfolio of accounts.
  • Identify opportunities to increase account penetration, diversify the service portfolio, and establish relationships across additional business units, subsidiaries, and technology functions.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the client's business strategy, operating model, technology investments, procurement processes, and competitive landscape.
  • Drive account growth beyond existing engagements by identifying new programmes, transformation initiatives, and strategic technology opportunities.
  • Maintain a clear view of account revenue, profitability, growth potential, and commercial risks.
  • Build and execute account plans with defined growth priorities, opportunity pipelines, executive engagement plans, and measurable outcomes.
2. Executive Engagement and Relationship Management
  • Establish and nurture trusted relationships with C-suite executives, CIOs, CTOs, business heads, transformation leaders, and procurement stakeholders.
  • Build relationships across multiple levels of the client organization to strengthen executive access and identify emerging business needs.
  • Lead strategic conversations that connect the organization's capabilities to the client's business challenges, technology priorities, and transformation objectives.
  • Develop stakeholder maps and engagement strategies to expand influence and access to key decision-makers.
  • Convert executive relationships into qualified opportunities, commercial engagements, and long-term strategic partnerships.
  • Position the organization as a trusted advisor rather than simply a technology services or resource provider.
  • Strengthen client advocacy by securing testimonials, references, and endorsements from key stakeholders where appropriate.
3. Opportunity Origination and Deal Closure
  • Proactively identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities within the assigned account or portfolio.
  • Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities aligned with revenue and bookings targets.
  • Lead opportunities from initial identification and qualification through solution positioning, pursuit, negotiation, and commercial closure.
  • Identify and shape large, complex, multi-capability deals in collaboration with solution architects, delivery teams, and technology specialists.
  • Translate client business challenges into differentiated value propositions and compelling commercial propositions.
  • Develop and defend business cases, deal economics, pricing strategies, and commercial models.
  • Demonstrate strong negotiation skills and the ability to balance revenue growth, client value, competitiveness, and profitability.
  • Coordinate internal stakeholders to ensure that proposals are commercially sound, differentiated, and aligned with client expectations.
4. Account Penetration and Service Portfolio Expansion
  • Identify whitespace opportunities across business units, technology functions, subsidiaries, and strategic initiatives within the assigned account.
  • Expand the organization's presence across digital engineering, AI, cloud, data, cybersecurity, application modernization, and other relevant technology services.
  • Identify opportunities to move beyond staff augmentation and resource-led engagements toward larger project-based, fixed-bid, managed services, and outcome-oriented engagements.
  • Collaborate with internal capability and industry teams to bring relevant expertise and differentiated solutions to the client.
  • Develop relationships with new stakeholder groups to reduce dependency on individual sponsors and broaden the organization's account footprint.
  • Drive cross-selling and upselling initiatives that create incremental revenue and strengthen the organization's strategic relevance.
  • Identify opportunities to increase the scale, scope, and strategic value of existing engagements.
5. AI and Digital Transformation-Led Growth
  • Lead value-oriented conversations with senior client stakeholders on AI, GenAI, agentic AI, intelligent automation, and digital transformation.
  • Identify opportunities where emerging technologies can address business challenges and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Position the organization as a strategic partner for AI-led transformation, technology modernization, and digital engineering.
  • Collaborate with internal specialists to develop relevant propositions, transformation roadmaps, and business cases.
  • Connect technology capabilities to client priorities such as customer experience, operational efficiency, risk management, fraud prevention, decisioning, and process optimization.
  • Build opportunities that extend beyond individual technology implementations toward broader transformation engagements.
6. Commercial and Account Governance
  • Maintain disciplined opportunity management, ensuring accurate CRM records, deal registration, pipeline tracking, and revenue forecasting.
  • Monitor progress against quarterly and annual revenue and bookings targets and proactively address gaps in the growth pipeline.
  • Maintain visibility of account performance, profitability, commercial risks, and opportunities for expansion.
  • Lead regular account growth reviews and ensure that opportunity progression, client engagement, and commercial priorities remain on track.
  • Work with finance, legal, delivery, and solution teams to ensure appropriate commercial governance, pricing discipline, and contractual compliance.
  • Identify and address risks relating to client retention, competitive displacement, commercial performance, and account concentration.
  • Ensure that proposed engagements are aligned with delivery capabilities, client expectations, and agreed commercial commitments.
7. Client Retention and Long-Term Account Value
  • Develop strategies to strengthen client relationships, protect existing business, and secure long-term account growth.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of client satisfaction, stakeholder sentiment, delivery performance, and emerging business priorities.
  • Identify opportunities for renewals, extensions, and expansion while proactively addressing risks to existing engagements.
  • Partner with delivery leadership to ensure that client expectations and commercial commitments remain aligned with delivery performance.
  • Drive strategic conversations around the client's long-term technology roadmap and identify opportunities for deeper engagement.
  • Build sustainable client relationships that support recurring revenue, new business opportunities, and long-term commercial value.
Experience and Qualifications
  • 15+ years of relevant professional experience in enterprise technology services, IT consulting, digital engineering, enterprise sales, business development, or strategic account management.
  • Demonstrated success in growing large enterprise accounts and achieving revenue and bookings targets.
  • Proven experience originating, shaping, negotiating, and closing complex technology services deals, including large and multi-capability engagements.
  • Established relationships with senior business and technology stakeholders within South African BFSI institutions.
  • Strong understanding of the South African enterprise technology services market and the operating environment of banks, insurers, or other large financial services organizations.
  • Experience engaging with C-suite executives, CIOs, CTOs, business leaders, and procurement stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify whitespace opportunities and expand an organization's presence within complex client environments.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including pricing, deal structuring, business-case development, negotiation, and profitability management.
  • Understanding of digital engineering, AI-led transformation, cloud, data, cybersecurity, application modernization, and enterprise technology services.
