About the role

About Prophet

Prophet builds digital clones of businesses so leaders can rehearse decisions before they make them.

Prophet is an award-winning Australian SaaS platform that helps marketing and commercial leaders understand what's actually driving their business. Our marketing mix modelling and decision science platform is used by some of the most recognisable brands in the region, giving them the rigour and confidence to make better investment decisions.

Recognised as the AFR Most Innovative Company for Media & Marketing in 2025, and we're scaling fast: 45+ enterprise customers and growing.

We’ve spent the past three years building a business with relentless momentum and 3x growth year on year. Now, with our expansion into APAC and the US underway, the opportunity is getting considerably bigger. The product, customer relationships and commercial foundations are in place. The next chapter is about turning that momentum into scale: winning more ambitious brands, building deeper partnerships and establishing Prophet in new markets. This role puts you at the centre of it.

About the role

As Senior VP Sales, you’ll lead commercial performance across ANZ, with Australia the immediate priority and a mandate to grow our presence in selected APAC markets. Reporting to the Global Chief Commercial Officer, you’ll own the regional commercial plan and P&L, build the team and personally lead the opportunities that move the business forward.

Your remit covers enterprise and mid-market sales, business development, partnerships, revenue operations, retention and expansion. You’ll work closely with Marketing on ABM and demand generation, and with Product, Customer Success, Decision Science and Finance to deliver on what we sell.

You’ll have real influence over where we focus, how we sell and who we hire. This is a leadership opportunity for someone who wants to help shape a global business while owning the performance of its home region.

What you’ll lead
  • Commercial performance and P&L

    • Own the ANZ commercial plan, P&L, budgets and profitability targets with Finance. Allocate investment across people, systems and market development, and turn growth ambitions into clear quarterly priorities.

    • Manage recurring revenue, bookings, margin, acquisition efficiency and payback. Lead pricing, packaging, discounting and deal structures within the global commercial framework, with reliable forecasts and early action on performance gaps.

  • Enterprise and mid-market sales

    • Lead the full sales cycle and personally own strategic opportunities, from discovery and demonstrations to business cases, proposals and close. Build trusted relationships with CMOs, CFOs, procurement, technology leaders and executive sponsors.

    • Embed a consistent sales methodology, strong qualification and evidence-based pipeline reviews. Improve conversion, velocity and forecast accuracy through coaching, stakeholder mapping and clear close plans.

    • Lead high-value negotiations, tenders and commercial agreements. Protect subscription value, margin and workable delivery commitments, resolving pricing, scope, payment terms and contract redlines with legal and technical advisers.

  • Account-based selling and demand generation

    • Build a repeatable account-based sales engine using enriched data, buying signals and stakeholder insight to identify the right accounts, personalise engagement and create qualified opportunities.

    • Partner with Marketing on ABM, demand generation, nurture, events and targeted campaigns. Agree priorities and handoffs, own sales follow-up and measure success through qualified pipeline and conversion.

  • Partnerships and APAC expansion

    • Work with the VP of Business Development and Partnerships to turn agency, media owner, technology and referral relationships into revenue. Build joint propositions, co-selling plans and sustainable partner economics.

    • Develop a focused APAC growth plan based on market potential, customer demand, partner access and delivery readiness. Structure regional opportunities and realistic rollout plans, while representing Prophet across the marketing, media and technology community.

  • Team leadership and capability

    • Lead and develop the regional sales, partnerships and growth team. Set clear responsibilities and targets, recruit against the growth plan and build a culture of accountability, collaboration and commercial judgement.

    • Coach discovery, demonstrations, negotiation and deal strategy. Build onboarding, enablement and playbooks that help people become effective quickly, and align quotas and incentives with the Global Chief Commercial Officer and Finance.

  • Customer retention and expansion

    • Own the commercial approach to renewals, retention and expansion with Customer Success and delivery leaders. Maintain executive relationships, address churn risks early and grow accounts through additional markets, models and capabilities.

    • Ensure every sales-to-onboarding handover has clear scope, success measures, data requirements and delivery expectations. Match commercial commitments to the team’s capability and capacity.

  • Revenue operations, AI and automation

    • Own CRM discipline, reporting, attribution and forecast accuracy. Connect the sales technology stack, enrichment and campaign signals into an OS the team actively uses.

    • Use AI agents and automation to improve research, prospecting, personalisation, follow-up, proposals and sales administration. Build repeatable processes with clear ownership and quality standards, and measure the effect on productivity, pipeline and conversion.

  • Product and global leadership

    • Bring customer needs, competitor insight and market feedback into product and commercial planning. Work with specialists to translate predictive intelligence, marketing mix modelling and AI into a compelling business case.

    • Contribute to global commercial strategy as Prophet expands into APAC and the US. Maintain a clear operating cadence with the Global Chief Commercial Officer, sharing performance, risks and investment priorities.

What success looks like

In your first 90 days, build a trusted view of pipeline, customers and commercial economics; take ownership of priority deals; and agree the regional growth plan, team priorities and APAC opportunities.

By 180 days, demonstrate progress against agreed revenue and margin targets, a stronger pipeline, better conversion and a team operating with a clear sales and forecasting rhythm. Ongoing success will be measured through profitable recurring revenue growth, retention, expansion, partner contribution and team performance.

What you’ll bring

We’re open to leaders from SaaS, MarTech, data, analytics backgrounds. More specifically:

  • Credibility across the ANZ marketing, media and advertising ecosystem, with senior brand and agency relationships. Experience growing APAC markets or regional accounts is highly valued.

    • An understanding of marketing effectiveness, media investment and commercial strategy, with the ability to explain a sophisticated proposition clearly. Experience with AI, analytics or predictive intelligence is highly valued.

  • A strong record in senior sales, commercial or growth leadership, with ownership of revenue, budgets, P&L and team performance.

    • The ability to win complex enterprise opportunities while building a repeatable approach to mid-market growth. You’re comfortable leading a major deal yourself and coaching others to close.

    • Strong financial and commercial judgement across pricing, margin, forecasting, cash flow and contractual risk, with an understanding of how to build profitable recurring revenue.

    • Experience negotiating high-value agreements, tenders and procurement terms. You can work through complex redlines, explain trade-offs and reach sound outcomes with legal advisers.

  • Practical command of sales methodology, account-based selling, CRM, enrichment and automation. You know how to turn account intelligence and Marketing collaboration into qualified pipeline.

  • The ability to hire, develop and hold a team accountable, operate independently and collaborate across time zones. You bring curiosity, pace, sound judgement and the willingness to get involved.

Our interview process

We want you to get a clear sense of Prophet, the opportunity and the people you’ll work with. Our process has four stages:

  3. Interview with James Sawyer (VP of Business Development) and Hamish Mogan (COO)- Discuss how you lead, collaborate and turn commercial opportunities into lasting customer relationships.

  4. Final Presentation to Paul Veltman and Jordan Taylor-Bartels (Founder & CEO) - Share your thinking on a focused commercial brief, followed by questions and discussion.
