About the role

Translated into English from German by Korum. The employer's original wording is on their site.

Description

Do you dream of delivering projects people talk about? Of working with technologies so cutting-edge that you build a reputation in the developer community? And are you eager to keep learning new things as part of Appsfactory's international developer team?

As a Platform Engineer, you are part of our international, interdisciplinary team and act as the first point of contact for infrastructure when building distributed systems. Your several years of experience in operations help you understand the functional and technical requirements of customers and internal projects. We build custom solutions for the leading companies in Germany and also take over maintenance and hosting for them. In doing so, we work closely with our cloud partners (Azure Gold Partner) and keep on developing ourselves.

Is DevOps a mindset for you, and do you have a strong automation gene? Then read on. Become an #Appfactorian and help our colleagues to boldly go new ways.

Your Responsibilities

  • You develop modern solution strategies and implement distributed, cloud-native systems on common cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP

  • You design secure, resilient and scalable architectures and ensure their long-term stable operation

  • You develop reusable Infrastructure-as-Code modules and blueprints to establish best practices across different projects

  • You consistently automate infrastructure, deployments and operational processes and continuously develop existing solutions further

  • You work closely with our developers and ensure that the platform is optimally aligned with their needs

  • You advise competently, both internally and to our customers, on topics such as architecture, security, costs and operations

  • You are responsible for the maintenance and technological development of demanding customer projects

  • You actively support monitoring, incident handling and the creation of disaster recovery strategies

Your Profile

  • You bring several years of experience in platform engineering, in a DevOps environment or in a comparable technical role

  • You are confident working with Linux systems and their tools and have sound knowledge of building network infrastructures (e.g. VPC, routing, security)

  • You have in-depth experience with at least one major cloud provider (Azure, AWS or GCP)

  • You are proficient in designing and operating microservices architectures and in container orchestration using Kubernetes, ECS, AKS or GKE

  • You handle Infrastructure as Code confidently with tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, CDK or Ansible and are experienced with CI/CD systems such as GitHub or Azure DevOps and deployment strategies

  • You also have knowledge of observability (monitoring, logging, tracing) and of stable platform operations

  • You also bring experience with security principles (e.g. Zero Trust, Least Privilege) and patch management (network, VMs, Kubernetes)

  • You are distinguished by a structured, self-reliant way of working and a high quality standard for your own results

  • You communicate confidently in German (C1 level) and English (B2 level) and enjoy working in international teams

Nice-To-Have:

  • Certifications in cloud, Linux or Kubernetes

  • Experience with security and governance services (e.g. Defender, Sentinel, Security Hub, Guard Duty)

  • Experience in building platform-wide standards or reusable architectures

  • Knowledge of cost optimisation and performance tuning of cloud infrastructures

Tech Stack

Technologies used in projects:

  • Containers & orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, GKE, Azure Container Apps) or VM-based scaling

  • Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP

  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Pulumi, CDK, Ansible

  • CI/CD: GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps

  • Programming languages & scripting: Typescript, Bash, PowerShell
