About the role
Translated into English from French by Korum. The employer's original wording is on their site.
In a context of transformation, Polène is recruiting a Leather Quality Manager to ensure material quality across the entire chain, from the tanneries to the cutting workshops.
Within the Quality and Material Development department, you will be the key point of contact for leather quality: supporting the tanneries, the performance of the cutting workshops and the material industrialisation of new products.
The role involves very regular travel across Europe, to our partner tanners as well as to our cutting sites, in France and in Spain.
You will thrive in this role if you wish to:
Support the tanneries in our quality approach: monitoring existing processes and implementing new processes to support growth.
Secure quality controls and align acceptance criteria across the whole control chain, in the tannery as well as internally.
Train quality controllers and maintain quality over time, as volumes increase.
Manage the quality performance of the tanners: monitoring indicators and action plans.
Manage quality alerts through to the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (8D).
Maintain the leather quality framework: specifications, material operating plan, defect libraries and physical references.
Deploy and develop leather quality criteria for existing articles and new products, and set up cutting documents.
Manage leather and cutting performance in the workshop: setting up indicators, monitoring, challenge and action plans.
Ensure the link between tannery quality and cutting workshop quality, and support the skills development of external cutting sites by harmonising criteria and best practices.
Work with the development engineer on the material industrialisation phase: risk analysis, stakes of new products, and alignment of leather quality criteria with the House quality charter.
Manage quality alerts and crises: monitoring corrective actions and business continuity plans to avoid chain disruptions.
Support production start-up and handover to the teams: training teams in France and Spain, setting up cutting documents, and validating quality documents (technical sheet, specifications).
You will excel in this role if:
You are a material quality engineer, a leather specialist.
You have a minimum of 8 to 10 years' experience in tanning and/or leather goods.
You have strong technical knowledge of leather and a keen sensitivity to raw materials as well as finished products.
You know how to manage quality indicators, action plans and corrective approaches such as 8D.
You are comfortable with IT tools, in particular Excel.
You combine good interpersonal skills and rigour, and know how to bring along internal teams as well as suppliers.
You speak English and Spanish, which are essential for the very regular travel to be expected across Europe.
