At CONVOTIS Iberia we are looking to bring on board a Senior Mainframe Consultant with a global view of the IBM z/OS environment: someone who knows the platform from infrastructure and operations, but who has also developed in COBOL and worked with databases.

You will join stable projects with large clients in the financial and services sectors, where you will be a technical reference and act as a liaison between development, systems and the business.

Responsibilities:

• Advise on the improvement and automation of Mainframe operations: batch scheduling, monitoring and incident management

• Analyse, develop and optimise COBOL batch and online (CICS) programs

• Design and review schedules in Control-M, TWS or CA-7, and validate the JCL of new processes

• Work with DB2: SQL queries, performance, LOAD/UNLOAD utilities and resolution of data access problems (IMS, if you know it)

• Act as a liaison between development, systems and the business in critical incidents and production releases

• Take part in modernisation initiatives: DevOps on Mainframe and integration with cloud

• Document procedures and support junior profiles

Requirements:

• At least 8 years of experience in IBM z/OS Mainframe environments

• Experience in production operations and control: TSO/ISPF, SDSF, JES2 and batch schedulers

• Proven experience in COBOL development (batch and CICS) and JCL

• Solid knowledge of DB2 and SQL

• ITIL methodology (incidents, problems and changes)

• Analytical skills, good client communication and autonomy

Desirable:

• IMS DB/DC, MQ and VSAM

• Automation: REXX, System Automation or OPS/MVS

• Modernisation tools: Zowe, Git, Endevor or IBM Developer for z/OS

• Professional English

• Experience in banking or insurance
