About the role

Translated into English from French by Korum. The employer's original wording is on their site.

Our Team Data Observability is looking for a Senior Software Engineer based in Lille or Paris.

At the heart of the Decathlon Digital entity, we are looking for our future Senior Software Engineers to join the Data Factory teams.

This technology platform, global to the whole group on an international scale, supports the development of the use of Data at Decathlon, from calculating revenue to designing innovative products.

We run a cutting-edge Modern Data Stack, with a Lakehouse at its centre of gravity. Our mission? To guarantee the scalability, automation and excellence of development practices for all of our communities (Data Engineers, Analysts, Scientists).

Our Data Observability team is an essential building block of this mission. Organised around 3 key areas, the Data Observability team is responsible for exposing Decathlon's data assets as well as their maturity through the Data cockpit. We also provide the essential core data for lineage, quality and usage. We are a team that values collaboration, skill development and concrete impact.

YOUR FUTURE CONTRIBUTION

As a Senior Software Engineer within the Data Observability team, you will play a key role in creating and optimising the data cockpit (alpha) for our data platform, business analytics and country teams. Our mission is to create the data discoverability and observability platform within Decathlon (data maturity, usage, lineage). We are working on the product that delivers this vision, the data cockpit.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Technical leadership on the data cockpit: You will take over the technical stack for the backend and frontend of the data cockpit and you will be supported by Data Engineers who provide the datasets needed for the product to run properly.

  • Automated Data Governance: You will take part in setting up this new approach through data contracts and the data cockpit.

  • Understanding functional needs: Proactivity in analysing needs and understanding the day-to-day work of the users we support and their stakeholders.

  • Support and guidance: Act as an expert to guide data teams in the correct and effective use of our observability products

  • Promoting good practices: Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of our working methods (mob programming, TDD, robust documentation...) to raise the technical standards of the team.
  • Operational excellence: Implement monitoring and automation solutions to considerably reduce manual workload and improve the overall efficiency of the team.

The team is made up of:

  • 1 Product Manager
  • 4 Data Engineers

TECHNICAL STACK

  • Javascript : typescript
  • Cloud : AWS / Aiven
  • Queuing : Kafka
  • DB : PostgreSQL (Aurora)
  • Open Source framework : Great expectations, Open Lineage
  • CI/CD : Github, Github actions, Docker, K8s
  • Observability : Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana

WHAT YOU BRING

We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer with an appetite for understanding business processes, user-focused, alongside solid technical skills.

Technical skills:

  • Experience in reactive programming
  • Significant experience in designing and implementing end-to-end microservice-based solutions
  • Good knowledge of monitoring and alerting tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of version control systems and continuous integration (Git/Github).

Interpersonal and collaboration skills:

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, as well as a strong sense of service, with a user-centred approach following a product logic.

  • You thrive in an agile and collaborative working environment (mob programming, code reviews...).

  • Your command of English allows you to interact easily with our international teams and partners.

WHAT WE OFFER YOU

  • 2 days of remote working per week;
  • The option to work from one of the Decathlon Digital offices in Lille or Paris;
  • High-performance equipment provided in line with your missions and our social commitments (Mac, Windows, or Chromebooks);
  • A local project team within a global network (possibility of an international career);
  • Skills development and support (variety of projects, technical certifications from the first year, internal and external training, etc.);
