Would you like to set the direction for people, culture and leadership in one of Denmark's leading advisory and audit firms?
BDO Denmark is looking for an experienced and relationally strong Chief People Officer who can set the direction for People & Culture and create coherence across a nationwide, partner-driven organisation. The role will be of great importance to BDO Denmark's continued development and to the work on Strategy 2030 ”closer - stronger together”, where people, leadership, competencies and culture are central drivers.
BDO Denmark is Danish-owned and led and operates as a partner-owned company, where the owners are themselves active in day-to-day operations. Decisions are made in Denmark, and the path from idea to decision is short. At the same time, BDO is part of a strong international network, which provides access to knowledge, perspectives and Best Practice across countries.
A People agenda that is part of the businessBDO is a company where people are the business. BDO does not sell products - the business consists of employees' expertise, judgement and relationships with clients. Therefore, the ability to attract, develop and retain the right people is not a support task, but a central part of BDO's business development.
The starting point is a strong organisation and culture, which the incoming CPO is to build on, strengthen in its cohesion and make even more scalable.
The starting point is strong. In June 2026, BDO was highlighted as one of Denmark's most attractive workplaces in the Randstad Employer Brand Research 2026 and at the same time achieved the best placement in the audit and advisory industry. BDO is also among the top 5% best-performing companies within Professional Services on employee engagement and job satisfaction.
The roleAs CPO, you will have overall responsibility for People & Culture at BDO Denmark and report to the CEO. You will become a central sparring partner for the management and be responsible for ensuring that P&C supports the business's strategic ambitions and at the same time is experienced as present, relevant and value-creating throughout the organisation.
You set the strategic direction for P&C and create coherence across Recruitment, Operations, Learning & Development and People & Culture Legal. You lead through independent managers and specialists and must at the same time ensure common direction, prioritisation and high quality across the areas.
A central part of the task will be to translate Strategy 2030 ”closer - stronger together” into concrete People initiatives that make sense in the organisation and create real value for BDO's business. This applies, among other things, to leadership and competence development, talent, employer branding, culture and organisational capacity.
The role calls for a leader who can both think strategically and be close to the reality in which the strategy must work. You must be able to bring together different perspectives, create clarity and set priorities - and at the same time be able to challenge and make clear choices.
You contribute to clear frameworks for collaboration, communication and prioritisation in relation to BDO's decentralised organisation and bring new perspectives, digital opportunities and Best Practice into P&C work.
Close to owners, partners and the organisationAn important part of the role will be to stay close to BDO's owners, partners, managers and local offices. You must be able to understand the business's different perspectives and needs and translate them into a common People direction.
BDO's partner-driven and decentralised organisation means that the People agenda must be created in close interaction with the organisation. This requires a CPO who can meet professionally and commercially strong profiles at eye level and build relationships that create support.
At the same time, you must be able to balance common direction and standards with respect for local realities and the individual business areas' needs.
You will thereby become an important bridge-builder between central functions and the decentralised organisation - with BDO's overall interests in mind.
Your profileYou have a relevant higher education or equivalent professional background and solid experience with:
Strategic and business-oriented: You have solid experience with strategic and business-oriented People & Culture leadership and can translate the company's strategy into concrete People initiatives.
Leadership and relationships: You have experience leading managers or professional teams and are used to working closely with top management, partners and other key stakeholders. You build trust and can create support for a common direction.
Judgement and ability to deliver: You are clear, listening and solution-oriented. You can bring together different perspectives, create clarity in complex issues and translate them into decisions and action. You can challenge when it creates value, while maintaining good relationships with the organisation's various stakeholders.
Development and new opportunities: You have a curious and development-oriented mindset and see data, AI, digital solutions and new ways of working as natural tools to strengthen processes, decisions and organisational development. You have experience translating strategy into concrete people initiatives and know how to achieve results through relationships, trust and common direction.
You speak and write Danish and English fluently.
What you get the opportunity to doAs CPO, you will have the opportunity to play a central role in BDO's continued strategic and organisational development.
You are joining at a time when the direction of Strategy 2030 ”closer - stronger together” has been set, but when the People part of the strategy is yet to be shaped and turned into practice. You will thereby have the opportunity to shape the development of P&C as a strong, business-close and value-creating function.
You will become part of an organisation with strong professional environments, high employee well-being, strong client relationships and a solid employer brand. At the same time, you will gain access to inspiration, knowledge and Best Practice through BDO's international network.
This is a role for a CPO who is motivated by making a difference close to the business - and who thrives on achieving results through others.
The workplace is BDO's office in Aarhus C. The role involves travel and requires a willingness to be visible and present in BDO's offices across the country.
