About the role

Translated into English from German by Korum. The employer's original wording is on their site.

In brief

Our fulfilment centres are among the most modern of their kind and supply thousands of households with fresh groceries every day. Next, we want to open our brand-new hybrid fulfilment centre in the Berlin/Brandenburg area (Falkensee). Falkensee is one of the first sites where we are building maintenance of our automated systems in-house, rather than outsourcing it entirely. As Maintenance Operations & Continuous Improvement Manager, you will take strategic responsibility for the performance and continuous development of our material handling systems and maintenance processes at the site.

You are the central interface between the automated and manual processes in the fulfilment centre, the operational teams, your maintenance team, our engineering and analytics teams, and external partners. You translate overarching site goals into concrete improvement initiatives, use data to identify optimisation potential, and ensure that asset availability, operational efficiency and continuous improvement remain at a high level over the long term.

What awaits you
  • Hands-on leadership: Steer the maintenance area in day-to-day operations and support Maintenance Engineers and Supervisors in leading their teams effectively. You ensure the right structures and priorities and, together with your team, secure the achievement of our asset availability goals - without controlling every operational detail yourself.
  • Strategic responsibility for the maintenance area: Develop the long-term performance strategy for our maintenance area and take responsibility for key KPIs in safety, quality, throughput and operational efficiency.
  • Continuous improvement & Operational Excellence: Drive site-wide Kaizen initiatives, Lean methods and root cause analyses. You identify structural improvement potential and ensure that continuous improvement becomes an integral part of how we work.
  • Data-driven process and automation optimisation: Analyse complex operational and technical processes using data, identify bottlenecks, and develop solutions with the technical teams to sustainably improve the reliability and availability of our systems.
  • Interface across functions: Bring together maintenance, engineering, our suppliers, planning, analytics and operations, and ensure that all stakeholders work towards shared goals and that processes across the entire value chain run smoothly.
  • Standards & governance: Together with the responsible teams, ensure compliance with safety standards, 5S principles and operational best practices across the entire site - with a focus on structures and standards rather than day-to-day technical detail control.
What you bring
  • Master's degree (MSc) in Supply Chain Management, Engineering or a comparable technical or analytical field of study/qualification
  • 8+ years of professional experience with a focus on maintenance, operational strategy, continuous improvement or process engineering
  • At least 2+ years of direct leadership experience
  • Strong interest in automation, robotics and technical maintenance systems
  • Demonstrable experience with Lean, Six Sigma or Kaizen - ideally in an automated high-volume environment
  • Very good analytical skills and experience with data analysis tools such as Tableau, Excel, Sheets or SQL
  • A strategic mindset and the ability to exert influence across functions and drive larger initiatives forward
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills and enjoyment of bringing different stakeholders together
  • Fluent English; German language skills are a big plus
Look forward to
  • Get going - with us: Become part of our international team in an environment that fosters real growth and an "Act like an Owner" mindset. With us, you have the chance to drive projects independently, test new ideas and see first-hand how your work makes an impact in our fast-growing company.
  • Sustainability at the core: Become part of the revolution. You contribute to a greener future through our 100% electric fleet and a supply chain that reduces food waste.
  • The basics: We provide you with everything you need to succeed - including a laptop and mobile phone, plus access to exclusive employee discounts (Corporate Benefits) for travel, technology and much more.
  • Time to recharge: With 30 days of holiday per year (based on a 40-hour week), you get the perfect balance between work and rest.
  • Food for winners: We look after you. Enjoy fresh, free breakfast and lunch or dinner every day in our fulfilment centre, plus plenty of snacks and fruit for an energy boost in between.
  • Unforgettable moments: We are more than just a team. From our legendary annual ski trip and Christmas parties to performances by our own Picnic band: we celebrate our successes together.
  • Wellbeing & balance: We offer you professional support for your mental health with OpenUp.
