The CRM Engineering team builds the go-to-market platforms and tooling that Airbnb uses to grow and manage its supply. We power the full host lifecycle: acquiring new hosts, onboarding them, and retaining and growing them once they are live. We also build the platforms that connect Airbnb with its wider community, including Hosts, Guests, Local Community Leaders, Government Regulators, and more. We partner with business teams across Homes, Hotels, Services, Experiences, Luxe, API partners, and Co-hosts, as well as Policy, Community, Airbnb.org, and Escalations. Here are a few examples of what we build:

- GTM Platform and Tooling: A unified funnel platform with a canonical source of truth for leads, plus the workflows and operations tooling that help sales teams and market managers grow and manage supply at scale across every business unit.

- Digital Channel Platform: Lets us engage hosts and prospective hosts on the channels they prefer in more than 200 geographies, such as WhatsApp in Brazil and India and LINE in Japan. It is built to scale from one-to-one outreach to large, personalized engagement, and it is critical to supply growth.

- Account Management and Retention: Tools, notifications, and insights that help account managers support and grow high-value hosts.

- Community Platform: A social platform of Host Clubs, a peer-to-peer Community Center, and Events, driving community enablement, collaboration, and success for hosts around the world.

- Policy Cloud: Enables Airbnb to engage with regulatory bodies across the globe regarding short-term rental regulations. This platform is the source of truth for the regulations that impact our business and provides intelligence, including AI-generated summaries, to address unique business challenges.

The Difference You Will Make:

As an Engineering Manager, you'll be leading a team of very senior, highly motivated, high achieving engineers within the Community platform and Policy platform teams. You will work closely with product managers, designers and other engineering leaders to plan and deliver a wide range of new and improved features and capabilities powering Airbnb messaging. You'll be finding opportunities to shape ambitious technical and product visions and turn them into a polished reality.

A Typical Day:

- Work with product, design and other stakeholders to define, prioritize and execute roadmap

- Work with engineers to plan, sequence, make tradeoffs and deliver new features and platform capabilities

- Understand the state of our systems to determine where investment may be needed to maintain system health and build for long-term success

- Nurture a culture of engineering excellence

- Hire and coach exceptional engineering talent, spending  understand underlying motivations and dynamics

Your Expertise:

• 3-5+ years of hands-on experience managing an engineering team and 9+ years of relevant software development industry experience in a fast paced tech environment
• Strong expertise in building large-scale backend systems and experience in user facing features
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Proven experience working with many engineering teams and cross functional partners.
• Flexible in leadership style, can adapt to a variety of ways of working depends on the situation
• Experience leading and shipping large initiatives with high business impact
• Creating a strong culture of operational excellence with focus on raising the bar for quality, reliability and availability
• Good judgment in making tradeoffs to balance short-term business needs with long-term technical quality
• Strong communication skill and ability to influence decisions from a wide variety of stakeholders
• Experience fostering an inclusive and engaging team environment
