Managing Principal - Software Engineering & Architecture

We are looking for a Managing Principal - Software Engineering & Architecture to lead and develop our software engineering expertise, while supporting our clients through their most complex transformations.

This technology leadership role revolves around three essential dimensions: Engineering Leadership, Architecture & Transformation and Client Development.

As Software Engineering Chapter Lead, you will define technical direction, strengthen engineering standards and support the growth of our community of Tech Leads, architects and senior engineers.

You will be closely involved with technology and the delivery of projects, while working with senior decision-makers at our clients to structure their transformations, influence their technology choices and develop new opportunities for Capco.

What you will do

Engineering & Chapter Leadership

• Lead and develop our software engineering community by defining standards, principles and good practices.
• Coach, mentor and develop Tech Leads, architects and senior engineers, while contributing to the development of expertise.
• Promote a culture of engineering excellence, technical accountability and continuous improvement.

Hands-on Architecture & Engineering

• Provide in-depth, practical technical expertise on backend technologies, notably Java
• Analyse architectures and technical designs in depth, challenge technology choices and steer teams towards pragmatic solutions.
• Support technology modernisation initiatives around cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, APIs, microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Ensure that solutions meet requirements for security, scalability, resilience, performance and observability.

Client Advisory & Business Development

• Build relationships of trust with CTOs, CIOs, Heads of Engineering, Heads of Architecture and Product leaders at our clients.
• Challenge approaches constructively and influence the strategic decisions of our clients.
• Contribute to the preparation of business proposals and presentations, notably by defining approaches, architectures, teams and delivery models.
• Take part in developing Capco's offers and client portfolio in the areas of Software Engineering, Architecture, Cloud and technology modernisation.

What we are looking for

You are an experienced leader in software engineering and technology, able to combine in-depth technical expertise, an architectural vision, leadership skills and a strong client focus.

Your background may include roles such as Principal Engineer, Principal Tech Lead, Engineering Lead, Software Architect or Head of Engineering.

You have the following skills and experience:

• Proven experience managing and developing senior engineers, Tech Leads and/or architects.
• In-depth expertise in software design, distributed systems, cloud-native architectures and modern engineering practices. Notably with the use of AI applied to the Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC).
• Excellent communication skills in French as well as English.

Experience in financial services, banking or payments is an advantage.
