About the role

Translated into English from Dutch by Korum. The employer's original wording is on their site.

Due to significant growth in the Netherlands, WSP wants to strengthen its expertise in the field of ecology in Nieuwegein .

What does your new role look like?

As a Senior Systems Ecologist, you are the integrated thinker who approaches landscapes as interconnected systems. You connect abiotic factors, biotic factors and human use, and translate complex ecological processes into clear insights and well-founded advice. With your landscape ecology perspective, you help clients - from government bodies to area coalitions - make future-proof choices.

At WSP, you work on projects in which ecology is guiding, such as layout plans, nature management plans, LESA's and integrated area developments. You work on various projects, such as: Ruimte voor de Rivier 2.0, Herinrichting rivier de Worm, Oeffelt and Gebiedsvisie Weerterbos and Laarderheide. In these projects you combine landscape ecology data, GIS analyses and area knowledge into clear reports. In addition, you take the lead in (sub)projects, coach colleagues and are a strong discussion partner for clients and stakeholders. You move effortlessly between content, process and policy and make complex issues understandable.

You will have plenty of room to shape your own role, identify opportunities in the field and turn them into new projects that you develop and deliver together with the team.

This is your team

You work together with, among others, dedicated ecologists, hydrologists and planners on projects that contribute to a future-proof Netherlands. We believe in integrated solutions, knowledge sharing and collaboration across disciplines. You will have the space to deepen your expertise further, to give direction to projects and to contribute to a living environment that is sustainable, resilient and future-proof.

What do we look for in you?

You communicate clearly and persuasively and naturally collaborate across disciplines. With your connecting approach you ensure support, collaboration and strong results. You also bring:

  • A completed university degree (WO) in ecology, biology or environmental sciences, with at least 7 years of relevant work experience;

  • Experience in drawing up layout plans and LESA's, and in guiding integrated area processes;

  • Skilled in producing substantively strong reports, GIS and data processing;

  • Up-to-date knowledge of legal frameworks, nature policy and programmes in the Netherlands.

  • Excellent command of the Dutch language, both spoken and written.
