Job Introduction
The Intake team is the core hub that comprehensively reviews various business requirements and project requests flowing into the catalogue operations organisation, and connects them to precise execution through clear standard definitions.
Based on an understanding of business impact, it sets strategic priorities, and works with cross-functional stakeholders such as PO, development, data and operations teams to lead projects proactively.
It drives business growth through operational resource efficiency and systematic process improvement, and aims for leadership that expands the operational PM domain from a macro perspective.
Job Introduction
The Intake team is the core control tower that comprehensively reviews, standardises and connects the overwhelming volume of business requirements and project requests flowing into the product data (catalogue) operations organisation, one of Coupang's core assets, to execution.
Rather than simply passing on requests, it establishes business impact assessments and strategic priorities (Ruthless Prioritization) based on objective, data-driven criteria. It collaborates with cross-functional departments such as PO, development, data and global operations teams through clear guardrails centred on asynchronous (Online/Async) working.
It systemises and asset-izes (Simplify) manual operational processes, and maximises the productivity of the large-scale operations organisation through quantitative resource/effort estimation (Capacity Planning) and SLA/Throughput optimisation.
Responsibilities
- Integrated management of strategic requirements (Intake) and construction of guardrails: Quantitatively analyse unclear and complex business requests flowing into the catalogue/product operations organisation, and build a systematised Intake processing framework based on guardrails and online processes
- Data-driven quantitative effort estimation and prioritisation: Combine headcount, required timelines, FTE (Full-Time Equivalent) modelling and business impact to perform objective, quantitative resource scheduling and SLA/Throughput (processing volume) management
- Cross-functional & asynchronous project leadership: Establish cross-functional R&R centred on an online/remote collaboration environment (Jira, Confluence, Slack), persuade stakeholders and resolve risks
- Operational process asset-ization (Simplify) and defect reduction: Turn repetitive, manual operating procedures into assets to reduce the Defect Rate and maximise overall team operating efficiency
- Leadership and team coaching: Provide work structuring guidance, hands-on mentoring and coaching on independent decision-making processes so that junior PMs can grow into autonomous project owners
Qualifications
- Five or more years of project/programme management (PM/SPM/PMO) experience in e-commerce catalogue, back-office, large-scale operations, Intake or PMO organisations
- Clear experience in quantitative effort estimation and resource planning (Capacity Planning, FTE Modelling, SLA management, etc.)
- Ability to query backend databases directly using Direct SQL and to make data-driven decisions and priority judgements
- Ability to communicate on guardrail-based principles and control issues in asynchronous online environments such as Jira/Confluence/Slack, without relying on face-to-face persuasion
- Proactive leadership: experience challenging unreasonable requests based on data, and coaching junior PMs to grow into independent owners
- Global leadership and business English communication skills enabling smooth collaboration with overseas development teams (English interview required)
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep understanding of backend/operations domains such as e-commerce catalogue, marketplace and product data pipelines
- Proven track record of standardising overwhelming operational requests through systems/automation techniques, improving team-wide Throughput or reducing defects
- Experience directly designing and building standard team-level Intake and SLA management workflows using tools such as Jira Automation, Confluence and Asana
- PMP or SQLD certification holders, or those with global platform PMO experience
